TV Personality lends support for new Dementia Care Home

TV personality Helen McDermott is backing plans to build a state of the art, 80 bed dementia care home at Hoveton together with a seven bed neurological unit.

This news comes as the £6.6m project, which would create around 100 new jobs, goes before North Norfolk District Council's planning committee on16 December.

"As someone who has been visiting care homes for dementia suffers for some time and putting on special shows for the residents, including one based on the 1953 Coronation, it has become a very personal issue for me," said Helen McDermott.

"I have seen first hand what a terrible thing dementia is, not only for those living with the condition, but the effect it can have on their family and friends. Having the best local care facilities is vital, as it can make a huge difference to the quality of life of the dementia sufferer and those closest to them.

"That is why I fully support the building of the proposed new care home at Hoveton as I know for myself the great benefit it would bring to the lives of some of society's most frail and vulnerable people."

The project, proposed by Tilia Properties, would see the care home being built on a 3.5 acre site, approximately half a mile from the centre of Hoveton. There would also be a small neurological unit where those suffering from serious head injuries will be able to relearn

life skills.
